Voluntary glass depot: survey results

Voluntary glass depot: survey results

During the month of November, we asked for your opinion on voluntary drop-off points for collecting glass through a survey on our website. Today we are pleased to share the results with you.

Since 2018, we have been asking the Mayor of Longueuil to make glass collecting bins available to citizens in the form of a pilot project. We want concrete actions aimed at reducing upstream the quantity of residual materials, such as glass, which ends up in too big quantities in landfills.

Moreover, during the Vieux-Longueuil Borough Council, which was held on November 3, 2020, the elected officials voted unanimously in favor of a resolution asking that the City of Longueuil provides the necessary credits for the installation of a container for the purpose of collecting glass in the Borough of Vieux-Longueuil. This was also the case in the Borough of Greenfield Park on November 2, 2020, where the elected officials all voted in favor of the same resolution.

The elected representatives of the borough councils of Greenfield Park, Saint-Hubert and Vieux-Longueuil voted in favor of a resolution requesting that the City of Longueuil provide the necessary funds for the installation of a container for the purposes of collecting glass.

Are you for or against the installation of a container for the recovery of glass in each of the three boroughs?

  • Collection points in Longueuil would allow citizens to avoid taking their cars to get to St-Bruno and/or St-Lambert.

and the one that comes up the most: it is time for Longueuil to follow in other cities footsteps and to make a step forward for ecology!
